Wayne Ray Walden, 75, of Haughton, Louisiana, passed away on July 12, 2025, after battling a lengthy series of complex health issues. He was born on August 1, 1949, to Chester Walden and Doris Chandler Walden, in San Angelo, Texas.
Wayne was a proud (1967) graduate of Haughton High School, where he was awarded the accolade of Mr. Haughton High School, and voted Most Handsome. A gifted athlete, Wayne, earned a football scholarship. He attended LSU Shreveport and was "a few hours shy" of graduating. The bulk of Wayne's career was spent at Mid Continent Steele and Lennox. For the last several years Wayne was a devoted member of Haughton Baptist Church.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and on May 22 of this year, his beloved younger brother, Jerry Donald Walden.
Wayne is survived by Daughters Janet "Jan" Frakes Johnson (Criss), and Rachelle Walden; Granddaughter Chandler Frakes; Brother James Walden (Patty); along with nieces and nephews, many cousins, and a large community of friends and neighbors.
Wayne will be remembered for his gentle spirit and kind heart. He loved animals, always creating room for strays, making him at times generous beyond his means. Wayne loved nature, and in particular gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. All who knew him will remember his devotion to his Beloved LSU Tigers and The New Orleans Saints. Most importantly, Wayne lived a life of humility, and despite his imperfections, never wavered from his Faith in Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to: First Baptist Church of Haughton, 105 E. Washington Street, Haughton, LA 71037.
