Ute Tonry

Ute Tonry, age 81 of Bossier City, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025. She was born June 22, 1944 to parents Josef and Maria Zimmermann in Marburg, Germany. Ute brought a quiet grace, gentle strength, and an unmistakable warmth to everyone she met.

She had a gift for making life feel a little more comforting, often through the delicious aromas of her kitchen, where she prepared traditional German dishes that became cherished family favorites. Ute found joy in the simple pleasures of life: the turn of a page in a good book, the rhythmic dance of yarn as she crocheted beautiful creations, and the delicate beauty of her treasured figurine collection.

Hummingbirds, with their bright colors and gentle flutter, always reminded her of life’s small wonders, and she delighted in watching them visit her garden. Ute also loved the camaraderie and excitement of playing bingo, often sharing laughter and friendly competition with those around her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Frances Tonry, John Tonry and Patricia Brooks and her husband George. Grandchildren; Tiffany McKinney, Dakota Ridehour, Ryan Tonry, Jessica Tonry, Shawn Brooks and his wife Alethea, Bethany McFall, Malissa Brooks, Cera Brooks and her husband Zachary Nichols. Great-Grandchildren; Jonathan, Tatum, Drake, Lycan, Oliver and Greyson. Siblings; Leisel Grasser and her husband Bill, and Karl-Heinz Zimmermann and his wife Heike.

A memorial service to honor Ute’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, 3:00 PM at George and Patricia Brooks’s residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Ute’s name to the Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue.
