Tammy Duke

February 15, 1967 — August 2, 2025

Shreveport, Louisiana

Tammy Duke, age 58 of Blanchard, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Welcomed into this world on February 15, 1967 to parents Donald and Donna Duke, Tammy was born with health struggles that could have easily defined her, but she refused to let them. She grew into a remarkable woman and through all of life’s hardships, she never gave up. She was a fighter from the very beginning, and that strength carried her through every chapter of her life. She was strong, resilient, and brave; she didn’t just survive her struggles, she rose above them and helped others along the way.

Tammy was a fierce advocate for animals, there was never a stray she wouldn’t stop for, feed, or try to find a home for. Her deep love for creatures great and small was matched only by the joy she found in the simple, heartfelt things in life. She had a giving heart and a spark in her soul, her laughter could light up a room, and her kindness was unforgettable. It was often said that knowing Tammy made you a better person, and those lucky enough to have been loved by her know this to be true.

She was a true Southern spirit who loved NASCAR, proudly supported and loved all things LSU, and kept the music turned up loud; from 80’s rock ballads to the unmistakable voices of Garth Brooks and Trace Adkins. Concerts and country music were her happy place, just as much as treasure hunting in thrift stores, where she had a talent for turning the old and forgotten into beautiful, meaningful gifts.

Despite the many hardships she faced, Tammy was a pillar of strength and resilience. She never let the weight of her struggles dull her spirit. She helped found Rainbow Camp and was very active in the annual Turkey Shoot for Muscular Dystrophy. Tammy was so blessed with a very large family, a large group of friends and the loving congregation of The First United Methodist Church of Shreveport and FaithLink worship service.

Tammy is preceded in death by her grandparents; Grady and Lessie Duke and Jamie and Margaret Bradley, aunt; Bonnie Duke, uncle; Dale Duke, and special friend; Michelle Witkowski.

Left to cherish her memory is her life partner; CJ Caufield, parents; Donald and Donna Duke, brother; Bradley W. Duke, niece; Brittany Duke, nephew; Brody Duke, aunt; Deborah McAdams and husband Bobby, uncle; James Michael Bradley and wife Cherry, cousins; Jamie McAdams, Chad Bradley, Adam Bradley and Marty Morgan, a son she raised as her own; Cody Voohries and wife Karen; and special friends; Katie Foshee and Angie Pierce.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Tammy’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the following organizations in Tammy’s name; Heavenly Acres for Pets, Cure SMA and Vivian Animal Hospital.

Her spirit will live on in every rescued animal, every thrifted treasure, and every life she touched with her generosity and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
