Sydney Lance

Benton, La – Sydney Lance left this life to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 5, at the home of her daughter in N.D.

She was a resident of Shreveport until Oct. 1989, when she and her husband Robert Lance moved to Benton, La. She went to stay with her daughter in March, after Robert passed away in Feb. of this year.

Sydney was born on May 21, 1945 and graduated from Woodlawn H.S. in 1963. She worked at W.F. Beall, Bossier Parish Communication Dist. 1, and for a construction company, before retiring in 2010. She was a ham operator with the call N5GSV since 1983. She loved her family and church and was a member of Red River Baptist Church in Benton. She crocheted caps, scarves and afghans for several charities, as well as gifts for family, friends and church members.

Sydney was preceded in death by her parents Yvonne and Troyce Woods, Grandparents Rudolph and Minnie Hicks, son Timothy and her beloved husband Robert Lance. She leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Wayne Reid in North Dakota, 5 grandchildren, Chad, Colby, Cameron, Christopher, John and Krista, and great grandchildren, Silas, Isla and Thomas.
