Shirley Ann White Parker passed from this world on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
She was born November 16, 1933 in Rosboro, Arkansas, to JW White and Chloe Kizzia White. She grew up in Arkansas, growing up through the towns of Camden, Hot Springs, and Hope. She graduated as Salutatorian of her 1951 class at Hope High School. She married in 1952 and had two sons during the time their father was in the Air Force. The family then moved to Minden, Louisiana where they lived for the next eighteen years.
Shirley moved to Bossier City in 1976 and started employment with South Central Bell in Shreveport, working as an operator. She met Jim Parker in 1984 with their first date on February 29th…a leap year day…and they married in September of that year. Upon an AT&T transfer in 1987 she and Jim moved to Birmingham, Alabama. Later, she was able to transfer back to Shreveport and eventually retire from AT&T/Bellsouth. She would be a resident of Bossier City from 1976 to 1987 and then from 1996 until her passing.
She spent many years as a bowler in Minden and Bossier City, and staying busy with her hobby of cross stitching. She also kept up with her love of remembering birthdays of family and many, many friends. She and Jim had 26 happy years together until he and his wonderful singing voice left to entertain Heaven on October 1, 2010. Her best friend in her later years was her Yorkshire Terrier “Eddie”.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents JW and Chloe; brother Jack and his wife, Coralie; sister Lurlene Rodgers and her husband, Bob; stepfather Clovis Tittle; and stepbrothers James Tittle and Charles Tittle.
She is survived by sons Alan Moore and wife, Jonnene (Shreveport); Dr. Robert Moore and wife, Kristi (Pineville); grandchildren Ashley Edwards (Clint), Kristi Manilla (Marc), Holly Moore, Courtney Moore, Joshua Moore (Nadia); great-granddaughter, Taryn Edwards; stepsister Betty Konatsu (Mas); stepson, John Parker; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
