Sharon Yenke

Sharon Lynn Yenke, 87, of Benton, La, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City, LA.  Sharon will be laid to rest in Dexter, MO along side her mother and father.

Sharon was born in Bernie, MO on May 21, 1936.  She graduated from Puxico High School in 1954.  She went on later in life to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing and her master’s degree in hospital administration.  Her career included working as a registered nurse in Ophthalmology and as an ICU nurse at Highland Hospital in Shreveport for many years.  Sharon finished her career working in pain management which was a passion for her.  She helped establish pain medicine clinics in both California and Louisiana.

Sharon loved to garden, take care of stray cats, and liked to travel, especially to the beach with family.

She is survived by her daughter Brooke Yenke of Benton, LA, her son Will and his wife Katy of Kaufman, TX, two grandson’s, William and Thomas Yenke, a brother, Jerry Crowley and his wife Jan of Dexter, MO, a sister Peggy and her husband Leo Dickey , and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Sharon is preceded in death by her mother Deedie Crowley of Dexter, MO and her father Herschel Crowley.
