Richard Wisher

April 5, 1957 — May 28, 2026

Richard Young Wisher, 69, of Cherokee Falls, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 28th of 2026.

Born to Neb and Francis Wisher, Richard grew up with a deep sense of duty, loyalty, respect, honor, and love, qualities that shaped every chapter of his life.

A 1975 graduate of Blacksburg High School, Richard, affectionately known as “Race”, earned a place in the school’s Football Hall of Fame, recognized for his talent and passion both on and off the field. He went on to further his education at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina.

He served proudly in the United States Air Force, spending part of his service in Germany, where he was known for his honorable service and his exceptional skill in tennis.

Richard was a devoted father to his three sons, Donavon, Cameron, and Matthew, who were the greatest joy of his life. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Dianne Harrison and Celisa Short; his deceased brother, Jackie Crocker; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Amy, Emily, Brittany, and Jonathan, along with their children, whom he loved just as deeply.

With his generous spirit and unwavering love for family, Richard touched the lives of all who knew him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter he inspired, and the strong bonds he helped create. And for those who knew him best, one thing was certain: Richard was forever loyal to the Dallas Cowboys, win, lose, or “maybe next year,” he never left their side.

Richard often lived by the words: “Enjoy today, yesterday is a memory, tomorrow may never come.” His life was a testament to that belief, reminding everyone around him to appreciate each moment.
