Richard Larned, age 86 of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, leaving behind a life full of love, adventure, and service. Richard was born on October 24, 1938 to parents Richard Sr. and Estella Larned in Amherst, Massachusetts. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an Avionic Communication Technician, a role in which his skill, dedication, and precision were invaluable that included a tour during the Vietnam War where he was awarded both the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Service Stars. His time in the service reflected his commitment to duty and honor, values that he carried with him throughout his life.

He spent 53 wonderful years married to the love of his life, Jovena, who passed away in 2016. Together they had 4 children; Joan, William, Nancy and Paul, they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and countless treasured memories. Richard carried her memory close to his heart every day after her passing.

Outside of work and family, Richard was passionate about the things he loved. He could often be found at Boothill Dirt Track in Greenwood, Louisiana, where the sound of engines and the thrill of the race brought him pure joy. He was a proud member of many clubs, some that included the 40 and 8, an organization dedicated to promoting the well-being of veterans and their families, The Ozark Society, sharing a love for the outdoors, and the VFW North Gate Drive, where he valued the camaraderie of his fellow veterans.

The most important change in Richard’s life came on June 30, 2025, when he was saved and gave his heart to the Lord. From that day forward, his faith became his guiding light, giving him peace, strength, and comfort in his final days.

Richard is proceeded in death by his wife; Jovena Larned and his parents; Richard Sr. and Estella Larned.

He is survived by his children; Joan Larned-Eadie, William Larned, Nancy Larned, and Paul Larned; grandchildren; Danielle Larned, Aaron Larned, Keegan Cody, Morgan Eadie, Ayden Larned, Cade Larned, Cloe Larned, Corbin Larned, Rayven Larned, and Raylan Larned and one great-grandchild; Braydon.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City, Louisiana with burial to follow at 12:30 PM at The Veteran’s Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana. A remembrance gathering for Richard will be held at the VFW Northgate in Bossier City, Louisiana on August 25,2025 starting at 2:00 PM.

Richard’s story is one of love, service, and redemption. He has now gone to be with his Lord and is reunited with his beloved Jovena.
