Patricia Kane

March 7, 1939 — November 29, 2023

In Loving Memory of Patricia Margaret Wade Kane

Pat, born on March 9, 1939, to Blanche and Neal Wade in the charming small town of Oswego in upstate New York, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 29th, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Pat leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and cherished memories.

From a young age, Pat demonstrated a remarkable love of exploration that would shape the course of her extraordinary life.  After graduating from Oswego State at the early age of 19, she embarked on a journey that carried her across the country to Anchorage, Alaska where she began her career as a schoolteacher.

During her time in Alaska, Pat met the love of her life, Joseph Kane, on a blind date and began a whole new chapter. Together they moved from Alaska to Indiana, and finally settled in Shreveport, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and good times.

A dedicated teacher for two decades, Pat touched the lives of countless students, imparting not only knowledge but also a passion for learning. Her commitment to education and caregiving extended beyond the classroom, as she founded the daycare and preschool, Learn and Play, that became a beloved neighborhood institution for 35 years.

Pat cherished family the most.  She loved her role as big sister to Joann and Kristina and was known as the “cool aunt” to numerous nieces and nephews.  Her proudest accomplishment was the family she created with Joe.  She leaves behind a legacy in her three children, Timothy (Aimee’), Michael (Quincy), and Kelly, and in the hearts of her four grandchildren, Madison, Parker (Flore), Shelby (JJ), and Sidney.  They will forever be inspired by her spirit of exploration and love of living life to the fullest.

After losing her partner in crime, Joe in 2005, Pat spent time volunteering at the Meadows Museum of Art, sharing with visitors her zeal for the arts.  She found community and friendship at her favorite spot, the American Legion Post 14, where she became a familiar face, regularly playing & hustling Farkle and Mahjong.  You could count on her hosting happy hours and dinner parties with all the usual suspects ... you know who you are!

As we say our goodbyes, Pat’s family expresses their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Cindi, the amazing caregiver and friend to Pat over the last few years.

Pat Kane will be remembered for the spirit of adventure that defined her life, the love she shared with her family and friends, and the countless lives she touched along the way.
