Mark Layne Miles was born on March 1, 1966, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and on October 9, 2025, he left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mark lived a full and meaningful life surrounded by family and friends. He grew up in Shreveport and graduated from Loyola College Prep. He went on to attend Northwestern State University before earning his degree in Computer Science from LSU Shreveport, a goal he proudly achieved by working his way through school on his own. His dedication and determination were a true reflection of who he was.
Mark had a big heart and a love for life. He enjoyed the peace of a quiet morning fishing and the excitement of a good hunt. He was a true Louisiana sports fan through and through, always cheering on his beloved LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. His favorite players, Joe Burrow and Drew Brees, brought him countless moments of joy and pride.
Mark is loved deeply by his family. He is survived by his father; Joel S. Miles and his wife Jacqueline P. Miles, his mother; Patricia Carney McDowell and her husband Charles McDowell, his brothers; Stephen Miles, Daniel Miles, Michael Miles and his wife Sydney, his sisters; Sage L. Dimond and her husband Scott and JoLynn G. Hamby and her husband Billy. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his cherished pets who were always by his side.
Mark will be remembered for his kind spirit, his quick wit, and his warm smile that could light up a room. He loved deeply and was loved even more in return. His presence made life brighter for everyone who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 4300 N. Market, Shreveport, LA. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice or to Adopt a Pet in Mark’s name, a fitting tribute to his love for animals.
Though he is gone from our sight, Mark will forever remain in our hearts.
