Marie Anita Derosby LaForest

Marie Anita Derosby LaForest, 95, passed away at home on Saturday June 21, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Marie was a Catholic, born on November 11, 1929, in Waterville, Maine. She attended Mount Merici Academy in Waterville for 12 years, graduating in 1948, and then Thomas College for one year. She worked for the Air Force at Civilian Personnel for 33 years. Marie and her husband, Bob, loved to dance, especially the jitterbug and round dancing. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1st from 5-7 PM at Journey Church, 1020 Shreveport Barksdale Hwy in Shreveport, Louisiana with a Memorial Service to follow on Wednesday, July 2nd at 11:30 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4700 Palmetto Road in Benton, Louisiana. Monsignor Matthew Long will officiate.

Marie is survived by her Daughter Ellie Chase and husband Raymond; Granddaughter Amber Wilson and husband Jeff; Grandson Jared King and wife Heather; Step-Grandson Kenneth Chase and wife Gidget; Step-Granddaughter Jessica Chase; Great Grandchildren: Taylor Attaway, Jaden Wilson, Kailey Wilson, Timothy Kent, Axel King, Delilah King, Emma Burson and Brooklyn Chase; Sister Beverly Ann Howard and a host of nieces and nephews.

Marie is proceeded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert; Son Robert Lee LaForest; Parents Moise and Alma Derosby; Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law William and Sophronie LaForest; Grandson Aaron Michael King; Son-in-Law Bryan Keith King and Niece Becky Howard Zana.
