LaWana McDonald

November 19, 1976 — December 6, 2022

Bossier City, LA ~ LaWana “Wana/WanaPooh” Tiese McDonald, age 46, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in Bossier City LA. Her family and friends will be present at her memorial service Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m.

LaWana McDonald or “Wana” was born November 19, 1976 to her late parents Nancy McDonald and David Johnson in Los Angeles, California. She was raised in the big city, went to school in Los Angeles, and after the tragic loss of her mother she moved to Louisiana and graduated from Gibsland-Coleman High School. She continued to pursue higher education at Grambling State University in Louisiana to gain a business management major. After earning her Associate's degree she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where her first daughter, SaMiya Williams, was born on July 19, 2005. Later in life she settled in Bossier City, Louisiana and met Eric Wilson and she was then gifted her second daughter, Yanni Wilson, born September 27, 2011. The Wilson family took LaWana and her daughter in with open and loving arms, and the pair have been together ever since.

Wana was gifted, talented, and a jack of all trades. She had a passion for cosmetology, which she made others feel positive about themselves through hairstyling. She was an amazing cook and even shared her culinary talent with the community and online. She was always very nurturing, caring, and so selfless for her family. Wana was a very private person, often cherishing her family over a night out. Overall, she was the best and most loving partner, mother, niece, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend: she will forever be loved and missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Lee McDonald and David B. Johnson, her brother, Vincent Eric McDonald, and her loving stepmother Geneva Rambo Johnson.

She leaves to carry on her legacy, her two daughters, SaMiya Nanci Williams and Yanni Patricia Wilson, her partner in life, Eric Alexander Wilson, her stepbrother David T. Rambo, her aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of family and friends.
