Larry Eugene Wood

Larry E. Wood passed away peacefully on October 18, 2018 following a lengthy illness.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Social Springs Baptist Church, Ringgold.  Officiating will be Bro. James Hester.

He was born August 2, 1943 in Raleigh, NC.  Following high school, he joined the Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam era.  After being released from the Army, he began a long career as an over the road truck driver, until his retirement in 2016. 

He is preceded in death by a son, William Baxter Peters; parents, and several siblings.  He is survived by his wife, Sarah Wood; daughter-in-law, Magan Peters; grandchildren, Chelsea Peters and partner Austin Johnson, Logan Peters, and Blake Peters; and his latest love, great-granddaughter, Scarlett Amelia Johnson; and many other family members and friends. 

Sarah would like to thank her sister, Sally; niece, Marsha; brothers, Robert and wife Darlyne, Buddy, Joe, and wife Dina for their love and support during this difficult time.  

Larry loved everyone and was loved by everyone that knew him.  He will be greatly missed.  The family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
