We are saddened to announce that Kenneth Dell Myers, age 73, of Vivian, Louisiana passed away on September 13, 2022, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Kenneth graduated from Castor High School in 1968. Shortly after graduating from high school, Kenneth went on to join the United States Marine Corps on December 9, 1968. After graduating from Marine Corps Bootcamp, he deployed to Vietnam where he conducted combat operations as a “Tunnel Rat”. Having been wounded during operations, SGT Myers was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps on May 19, 1971, earning a Purple Heart and many more medals of valor. Kenneth’s family remains eternally grateful and proud of his service to our Great Nation!
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents Dell and Salena Myers, and his sisters, Judy L. Myers Middleton Knight and Jackie Shatzer. Left to mourn his loss are his nieces, nephews, and their families: Kim Middleton, Tim Middleton, Kasey Knight, Jonathon Knight, Ashley Middleton, HayLee Middleton, Kaden Ware, BentLee Ware, Aubree Middleton, Colton Hunter, and Dawson Hunter. Kenneth is also survived by a multitude of cousins and lifelong friends, including his girlfriend Martha Purcell and her children, Wyatt and June, which he loved as his own.
A celebration of life service will be held at Lake Bistineau State Park at 103 State Park Rd, Doyline, Louisiana, Pavilion PV001, on October 8, 2022 at 12 pm. Kenneth, having been beloved by all kids he met, will be honored if, in lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
