Katherine L Beene

September 27, 1938 — February 26, 2025

Katherine L. Adams Beene of Ruston, LA, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Harrisville, MS, on September 27, 1938, she lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering faith.

On December 1, 1957, Katherine married the love of her life, Dudley, at just 19. She expressed her love every day in the little gestures—ironing his work clothes and preparing home-cooked meals. He especially enjoyed her homemade meatballs and spaghetti that took days to prepare. During their marriage, they worshipped their God, Jehovah together in the Bossier City and Ruston, La Congregations. For 25 years, she worked alongside him in their janitorial business, all the while, making sure their home was a place of comfort.

A woman of many talents, Katherine loved to dance in her younger years and was known for baking wedding cakes for many dear couples. She loved reading and had an inquisitive mind. She had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren, creating crocheted blankets as keepsakes of her love. She also had a great love of animals. An artist at heart, she enjoyed drawing animals, particularly cats and dogs, and writing heartfelt poems about her life’s journey.

Katherine’s faith was the foundation of her life. In her teenage years, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she lived by her beliefs, offering kindness, wisdom, and encouragement to everyone she met. Her gentle nature extended to all of Jehovah’s creatures, reflecting the love and compassion she carried in her heart.

She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Dudley F. Beene, and her parents, Lewis and Marguerite Cherry Adams. She leaves behind her daughters, Keelia (Donald) Kleinman and Doby (Christopher) Keene; grandchildren, Adam (Aubrey) Kleinman, Keda (Dennis) Sims, Tyler (Darbi) Keene, and Wesley Keene; and seven great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory.

A special thank you from the family to the kindhearted caregivers who provided comfort in her final days—Nurses Katrina, Shayla, Neff, Julie, and Sho; CNAs Michelle, Kiera, Tracy (supervisor), and Teresa; housekeeper Pamela; and Elara Caring Hospice nurse, Taylor. Your compassion meant the world.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JW.org. The family had a private memorial service for her.

Katherine will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on. Until we see her again, we hold tight to Jehovah’s promise of a world without pain, sickness, or death.

“He will call, and I will answer you.” — Job 14:15
