Karen Duhon passed away on March 17, 2024 at LSU Hospital, in her home town of Shreveport Louisiana. She was born on November 11,1977 to Carolyn Robinson. She fought two stage 4 cancers, Metastatic Paraganglioma which is a very rare cancer that only a hand full of doctors have worked with or have heard of. The second stage 4 cancer developed last year due to a radiation treatment given to her. She also developed Leukemia. She fought for six years and God gave her those years because she prayed to live for her son, Max. She wanted him to remember her and to experience the love that she gave him.
Karen was a cherished member of the Shreveport/Bossier community where she was born and raised, and she continued to enrich the lives of those around her and those she served. In 2011, she fell in love with a man named Kevin Duhon and despite all his imperfections she loved him unconditionally. Together they were raising their son, Maximus Roman Duhon that is 8 years old. Karen loved Jesus more than anything else under the sun and she showed it by how she lived. She loved her son Max beyond words as he was the sparkle in her eyes and her reason to live. She fought so hard to live because of him and she gave it her all to see to it that he had everything he needed and wanted. She was missing parts of her spine and her bones were fragile but that couldn’t stop her from walking with her son around the Red River National Wildlife Refuge. Each Thursday they would attend Barefoot University Forest School and no matter how bad she hurt or how sick she was, she wanted to take him because she knew those would be some of the last memories she would make with her son.
Karen loved serving our community by helping our communities’ children and women that were being abused. She was fearless and had no problem speaking her mind but at the same time she showed love and compassion towards her community.
She enjoyed planting flowers and taking care of their yard. She loved having family and friends over for cookouts and Max's birthdays. She was the one that made sure his birthdays were unforgettable for him and us. She loved decorating for each holiday, and she made sure Max got to experience each holiday to the fullest. She loved being a wife and mother and she was great at it.
