Jason Patrick LaCombe

August 5, 1975 — January 28, 2026

Jason Patrick LaCombe, age 50 of Benton, Louisiana passed away on January 28, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones after a short battle with terminal bladder cancer. He was a man who will always be remembered for his unwavering sense of humor.

Born and raised in Benton, Louisiana to father Francis LaCombe (Frenchie) and wife Sarah Eberhardt LaCombe (Sally) and to mother Kathleen Finnerty Stoddard and husband Charles Stoddard (Charlie). Jason grew up with a passion for baseball, not only through childhood but he played during high school with plans to play during college until a career ending injury. He continued that passion through coaching his children. He later graduated from Airline High School and built a career as a subcontractor, where he was known for his never-ending work ethic. No matter the weather, despite weekends and even at home there was something he just had to work on and unwavering loyalty to those he hired and worked for. But somehow always found a way to be there for his children. While his professional life was the majority of his life, his true pride was his family. He was a beloved father and grandfather.

Those who knew Jason knew that when he wasn’t working, he was doing what he loved most watching LSU, sitting around a fire with the people he cared about, spending time outdoors with the kids working on pitches or sighting in guns. He took great pride in teaching all three of his children the ins and outs of hunting, from using iron sights and properly breaking down and cleaning equipment to gutting and skinning deer. Jason believed deeply in self-reliance and made sure his girls knew how to change a tire and check their oil so they would never have to depend on anyone; while passing on to his son everything he knew about building and working with his hands. Above all, Jason taught his children how to be capable, confident, and strong. Lessons that will live on through them forever.

He is survived by his children, Christa Mikesell and husband Ethan Mikesell, Lauryn LaCombe and fiancé Kaleb Weaver, and Bryson LaCombe; grandchildren, Lowan Collins, Trenton Collins, Jaxson Ratliff, Mattison Ratliff and Campbell Mikesell; his brother; James LaCombe; his father, Francis LaCombe; as well as previous step-siblings, a multitude of friends and “adoptive” children that he took in as his own.
