Jackie Faye Melder Sumrall

Our beloved Jackie Faye Melder Sumrall, age 71, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Jackie filled every life she touched with warmth and kindness.

Jackie met her late husband, Larry, at Northwestern State University, where their love story began. They married, built a beautiful life together, and raised their family with devotion and joy. Jackie and Larry shared a lifetime of love and happiness until his passing in 2010, and she carried his memory with her always, looking forward to the day they would be reunited.

Jackie found comfort and joy in the simple things; she loved to read, often getting lost in her favorite books, and she tended her plants with care, creating a home filled with life and beauty.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry J. Sumrall; her parents, Milton and Palmire Melder; her sister, JoAnn Melder; and her brothers, Jimmie Melder, Bobby Melder, and Johnny Melder.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Lawrence Jeremy Sumrall (Amber) and Jason Lane Sumrall; her granddaughter, Kennidi Sumrall; her sisters, Francis Budd (Lonnie) and Sue Cathey (Gary); best friend Sheri Kyle, and many close family members and lifelong friends.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor West and Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Jackie.

A memorial service to honor Jackie will be held at Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City, Louisiana on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 3 PM. Jackie's family request that service attendees please wear black and yellow to honor her favorite colors.  

Though she will be deeply missed, Jackie’s family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved Larry.
