Glenn Edward Roberts, 77, passed away on Monday May 26, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.
Born on a US Air Force Base in Munich, Germany, Glenn was the son of the late Lt. Col. Edward T. Roberts (USAF, Ret.) and Mildred Roberts. As part of a military family, Glenn spent his early years living in various locations, including the Azores, before settling in Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended Byrd High School and later served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era as a medic.
Following his military service, Glenn became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in California and worked in healthcare before returning to Shreveport. There, he expanded his skills and worked in several fields including carpentry, city inspections, and newspaper delivery. Never one to settle, Glenn returned to nursing and went back to school, earned his Registered Nurse license from Northwestern State University, and built a respected career marked by compassion and excellence. He served patients with heartfelt care at Shriners Hospital, the LSU Burn Unit, and ultimately the VA Medical Center SICU. He also gave his time and heart to the Percy R. Johnson Burn Camp for children, where his gentle presence made a lasting impact.
Outside of his professional life, Glenn enjoyed creative pursuits and was proud to appear in several films, including The Crater Lake Monster, The Evictors, and as an extra in the television series Salem. These moments reflected his sense of adventure and joyful spirit.
Glenn was known for his kindness, humility, and unwavering generosity. He had an extraordinary ability to see the good in people, and he lived out his values with quiet consistency often offering food, encouragement, and dignity to anyone in need. His compassion was a deep part of who he was. He lived with a servant’s heart, a steadfast sense of humor, and a deep, abiding love for his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Donna Sisco Roberts; his son, Jeremy Dixon Roberts and wife Iliana; his stepson, Ragen W. King and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Lauren Roberts and husband Brent, William Carter-King, and Zackary Roberts; and great-grandchildren Easton Dunfey, Everleigh Dunfey, and Ember Dunfey. He is also survived by his siblings Norma DeBrow, Michael Roberts and wife Kathy, and Annie Griffin and husband William; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Roberts.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Memorial Gardens North, 233 N. Main, Blanchard, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Percy R. Johnson Burn Camp for children in Glenn’s memory.
