Evelyn Louise Russell Wimberly, 82 of Hall Summit, Louisiana passed from this life on Thursday, October 12, 2023. She born in Sondheimer, La on February 7, 1941, to Luther and Gertrude Russell.  The daughter of a cotton and soybean farmer she grew up the eldest of 10 children and attended school in Tallulah, La. Upon graduating from Tallulah High School, she attended Northwestern State University School of Nursing. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1963. In 1994 she completed her education by earning a Master of Science in nursing administration.

On March 29, 1963, she married William Lary Wimberly of Hall Summit, La. They were married for 60 years and were blessed with three children. She loved being a nurse and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society. After 39 years of nursing, she retired in 2002. She was a devoted Christian and committed church member.

She is survived by two brothers, Thomas Russell and Clinton Russell. Three children: Dr. Collin Edward Wimberly and his wife Gina of Hall Summit, Louisiana; Holly Christine Bergeron, and husband Reggie, of Branson Mo; and Allison Alona Anderson and husband Micah, of Bossier, La. Grandchildren: Juliana Handy and husband J.P., Daniel Wimberly, Micah Wimberly, Hope Contreras and husband Geronimo, Seth Wimberly and wife Abby, Leah Wimberly, Steven Wimberly and Silas Wimberly, Hali Henley and husband Blayke, Kara Neher and husband Paten, Zachary Anderson, and Miriam Anderson. Great Grandchildren: Everest Henley, Lincoln Henley, Amelia Contreras. Sister-in-law Alona Loftin and husband Charles of Hall Summit, La. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Russell. Siblings: Geneva Russell, Laverne Russell, Mary Webb, Tony Russell, Terry Russell, Travis Russell, and Benton Russell and her grandson Samuel Wimberly.

The family would like to say a special thank you to caregivers Alissia Wiley and April Davis.

Thank you so much to all of our family and friends who loved Louise and are here today to celebrate the gift of her life and her moving to her new eternal home with her beloved Jesus.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the building fund of New Life Church in Hall Summit.
