Elizabeth Lynn Wheeler Kratz

August 27, 1945 — January 7, 2026

Elizabeth Lynn Wheelis Wheeler Kratz, age 80 of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Elizabeth Lynn Kratz, known lovingly as Lynn, was born on August 27, 1945, to Major John B. and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) (Abernathy) Wheelis in Jackson, Mississippi.

Lynn graduated from Bossier City High School and went on to devote her life to what mattered most to her, her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with those she loved. Her home and heart were always open, and her family was the center of her world.

Lynn loved to read and could often be found enjoying her favorite music while listening to the radio. She especially enjoyed soft rock and, on occasion, delighted in attending a ZZ Top concert.

Lynn had a special love for all animals, especially her cherished cats, who brought her comfort and companionship throughout her life. Her gentle nature and caring spirit extended to every animal she encountered.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Major John B. and Betty Wheelis, and her beloved husband; William “Bill” Kratz.

Left to cherish her memory are her 2 sons: DeWayne Wheeler (Erika) and Randy Wheeler; 3 grandchildren: Ashley, Dustin (Aubrey), and James; 3 great-grandchildren: Natalie, James, and Landon; sister Carol Melton (Tom); brother Andy Wheelis; and numerous cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lynn was blessed with a bonus family who she loved (and yelled at) as if they were her very own. This includes children: Thomas Kratz (Tina), Yolanda Kratz, and Deborha Williams; 4 grandchildren: Shawn (Sasha), Elizabeth (Michael), Taylor and TJ; and 8 great grandchildren: Kayleigh, Adelyn, Richard, Hayden, Ember, Easton, Brayden, and Blakely.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Yolanda Kratz for the years of care, love, and companionship she gave Lynn. Yolanda made a promise to take care of her for as long as needed, and she fulfilled that promise with devotion, grace, and unbelievable patience. The family would like to also thank The Carpenter House and staff for taking such great care of Lynn.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you consider making a contribution to Port City Cat Rescue in Bossier City, Louisiana or to your favorite animal rescue organization in Lynn's name.

Lynn will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her and if you notice a little cat hair on your clothes, consider it a final hug from Lynn, she would have approved.
