Donald Jean Lavoie

December 19, 1939 — April 6, 2023

Bossier City

Bossier City, LA – Donald “Don”, 83, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in Bossier City, LA.  Visitation will be at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City from 5:00-7:00 PM on April 20, 2023.  A Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shreveport, LA at 10:00 AM on April 21, 2023.  Monsignor Matthew Long will officiate.

Don was born on December 19, 1939, in New Bedford, MA.  In 1961 he married his love Nathalie Amaral.  Don retired as a MSG from the U.S. Army after serving his country for over 20 years. He attended NSU for both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.  He was a paraprofessional at Bellaire Elementary with Special Ed pupils for several years.  His love of martial arts was important; therefore, he volunteered for many years teaching all ages.  He attained 4th Degree Black Belt, and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus.  In the past he served as Eucharistic Minister in many different areas. He was a kind, godly, and prayerful man who never missed mass unless he was in the hospital and re-hab.  He loved the Lord with all his heart. Don loved his family.  Don and Nathalie would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on May 6th.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.  Grieving his passing are his wife, Nathalie; daughters, Caroline Perkins and Michelle Ludwigsen; grandchildren, Lyndsey McElveen, Chelsea Lansing and husband Hector, Emily, Kevin and Laura Ludwigsen.  Also, grieving and missing Don are great grandsons Clayton Chambers and Wiliam “Cash” Herington.  He leaves behind three nieces and one nephew.

He is already missed by many devoted friends, especially all his “ACTS” brothers.  May his soul rest in peace.

The family requests that donations be made to charity of choice instead of flowers.
