Daniel Moore

Retired Major Daniel Ray Moore, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on October 4th, 2025. Dan was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi on April 23, 1946, to Chevis and Lucy Moore.

At an early age, Dan joined the United States Marine Corp serving in Vietnam. Dan was primarily stationed in Rota, Spain where he deployed to Vietnam for 9 campaigns. After his service in the Marine Corps, Dan returned to Bossier City, Louisiana where he joined the Army National Guard, rising to the rank of Major. Dan received numerous awards and recognition for his military service and while these reflected his exceptional career, Dan was a private person and would not easily share his accomplishments.

Dan is survived by his cherished wife Mary; his son Danny Jr. and wife Ava, and grandson Danny III from Poland; daughter Vanessa and husband Vallie and granddaughters Lydia and Valeria of Spain: daughter Stacy and grandsons Caden, Cason and Alex of Bossier City, LA; and daughter Lisa and husband Anthony and granddaughter Georgia of St. Louis, MO; and his constant companion Jumping Jack Flash his much beloved Sheepadoodle.

Dan graduated from LSU and had a love for LSU baseball and football, which he passed on to his son Danny and his daughter Lisa.

In keeping with Dan’s personal wishes, there will be no memorial service.
