Barbara O. Stegall, 72, of Shreveport passed away on September 11, 2021.
Barbara was born in Houlka, Mississippi on January 9, 1949, to John Henry and Lillie Francis Wiggs. She was the oldest daughter of twelve children.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years John H. Stegall; children, John M. Stegall (Cindy), Kimberly D. Singletary (Jeff) and Jennifer L. Gentry (Robert). She has eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father John Henry Wiggs, brothers, Tommy G. Wiggs and Jim B. Wiggs and sister Mary Jane Mooneyham.
Barbara was a graduate of Houlka High School and attended some college at Northeast Mississippi Community College and a community college in California to study nursing but motherhood became her calling. After her three children became school age, she became a cashier in a grocery store and eventually rose to be a general manager for Sam’s Wholesale Club. She later managed the business side of she and her husband’s company B.J. Stegall, Inc. Barbara enjoyed the outdoors; she loved to fish and garden. She was tenacious in the home – she canned vegetables, baked, sewed and a multitude of arts and crafts. She always put her family first and ensured they were cared for – even if it was just to listen.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
The family would like to thank Kindred Home Health and the staff at The Carpenter House for the loving care that was provided to Barbara in her last days. A special thank you to Teresa Jackson for the care she has provided, your kindness was greatly appreciated.
