Gary Curtis Coffelt

d. March 16, 2017

Gary Curtis Coffelt "Curt", 27, of Greenwood, La went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2017. Curt was born a miracle baby on April 24, 1989 in Shreveport, La to Sheryl McCoy Flores and Carlton "Mike" Flores. Curt is preceded in death by his dad Mike Flores, grandparents Lula Mae and Edward Flores, great grandparents Curtis and Nellie Schwab. Left to cherish his memory are his mom Sheri Flores; grandparents Cathy and Charles Taylor; siblings Chad Coffelt, Katie Bartleson, Casi Layfield and Taylor Flores; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Curt was a quiet, reflective soul. When he talked, people listened because his words always had a purpose. He never had a negative bone in his body, laid back and accepting of every situation. He absorbed any complaints from others that needed to talk, offering his wisdom. Some in the form of the most matter of fact advice or a reprimand that could sometimes even make you mad. He was usually right almost every time. Curt had been through many obstacles in his life. He was born prematurely with spina bifida, underwent his first surgeries at birth and too many to count since, yet he remained such a source of strength for his family that could not be attributed solely to being the middle child. His trials and his love for God are what made Curt so wise we believe. He loved to learn about God through reading the bible, going to church and sharing the gospel with others. He was fond of listening to music, drawing, watching the ever awful South Park TV show (thanks Chad) and playing games. Curt was back in school online, determined to meet his goal of becoming a math teacher. He was a brilliant child and his brilliance did not leave him as an adult, despite the complications he was forever facing. Curt could have chosen to be anything he wanted to be and he chose to fill a need. Services will be at Boone Funeral home located at 3903 Meriwether Road in Shreveport, La 71109. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 10:00 AM to service time. Chapel Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Forest Park East following the service.
